Headshots — Los Angeles

The headshot is the audition before the audition.

Actors, executives, founders and teams — photographed by a filmmaker who has spent seventeen years reading faces through a lens. The whole studio comes to your home, office or set. You watch every frame land on a monitor beside you, choose your keepers before we pack up, and have the retouched files within forty-eight hours.

Four kinds of people book this

They need different pictures. A theatrical headshot and a CEO portrait are not the same photograph, and shooting them the same way is why so many headshots look like everybody else's.

Actors & performers

Commercial and theatrical looks that read your type in the half-second casting gives them.

  • Commercial, theatrical and dramatic looks
  • Casting-safe crops for Actors Access & Backstage
  • Skin texture kept — you still look like you in the room

Executives & LinkedIn

A portrait that carries authority without looking like a corporate stock photo.

  • Square and wide crops sized for every platform
  • Grey, white or clean environmental backgrounds
  • Matching set for the whole leadership page

Founders & personal brand

A library you can post from for a year, not one picture you get tired of in a month.

  • Headshots plus working and lifestyle frames
  • Vertical clips cut for Reels and TikTok
  • Wide-crop versions for site heroes and speaker decks

Teams & on-site

The whole company photographed in one visit, on one background, in one style.

  • Full studio lighting brought to your office
  • Roughly five minutes per person, scheduled in slots
  • New hires added later against the same setup

Why this session is different

Most headshot sessions are shot blind

You stand there, a shutter goes off two hundred times, and you go home with no idea what you got. Days later a gallery arrives and you find out. That is the part of the experience this studio throws away.

Every frame appears full size on the monitor beside you, about a second after it is taken.

01 You watch it happen

The camera is tethered to a large monitor turned toward you. A stray strand of hair, a collar sitting wrong, a smile that is trying too hard — you see it, we fix it, and we shoot it again. Nobody leaves this studio hoping it went well.

02 You leave with your picks made

We go through the take together at the end and mark the frames you want retouched. You walk out knowing exactly which photograph is going on your profile, instead of waiting a week to find out whether the session worked.

03 You get directed, not just photographed

Casting is not screening your jawline, it is screening your eyes. So we work with something behind them — a thought, a person, a line — instead of asking you to relax and smile. Seventeen years of pointing a camera at nervous people goes into that half hour.

04 Stills and motion in the same sitting

This is a film company. In the same session we can shoot vertical clips — a slate, a look to camera, a few seconds of you actually moving — for your casting profile, your Reels or your site. One booking, both halves of how people meet you now.

05 Retouching casting will not flag

Stray hairs, a blemish that will be gone next week, a shirt that needs pressing. Not your skin texture, not your freckles, not your age. Casting directors are explicit that they are screening out photographs that do not match the person who walks in — so the retouching stops well before that line.

What actually happens

From booking to files, start to finish

Nobody tells you this part, so most people arrive nervous. Here is the whole thing.

1

Before the day

The wardrobe call

A short call or a few texts once you book. Send photos of what you are thinking of wearing and you will get a straight answer on what will work under the lights and what will fight your face. This is free and it is the single biggest thing that separates a good session from a great one.

2

First 10 minutes

We arrive, set up, you settle

The lights, the background and the monitor go up in about twenty minutes in a spare room, an office or a corner of the living room — a clear space of roughly ten by ten feet is plenty. We hang your options, look at them under the actual lights, and put them in order. Nobody sat in traffic to get to a studio.

3

The first look

The warm-up frames nobody uses

The first fifty frames are throwaways and you will be told that. They exist so the camera stops being a camera. Somewhere in there you forget it is pointed at you, and that is when the session actually starts.

4

The middle

Looks two, three and four

Wardrobe changes, a light moved, a background swapped — commercial and warm, then grounded and dramatic, then whatever your type actually needs. You check the monitor between each one, so nothing is a guess.

5

Last 15 minutes

You pick your keepers

We go through the take at the monitor and star the ones you want. You leave knowing what your new headshot is. If you want a second opinion, the gallery goes up before you get home and you can send it to your agent or your manager that night.

6

Within 48 hours

Retouched files, every size you need

Full-resolution files for print and submissions, casting-sized crops, a square for LinkedIn and Instagram, and a wide one for your website. Downloaded from your gallery, with no watermark and nothing else to pay.

Come prepared

What to wear, and what to leave at home

Print this, screenshot it, or ignore it and bring everything — we will sort it out on the rail when we set up.

Bring

  • Three to five tops on hangers, pressed
  • Solid mid-tones — jewel colours, navy, olive, burgundy
  • Necklines you like on yourself: crew, v-neck, open collar
  • One layer — a jacket, a blazer, something with shape
  • Texture: knit, linen, denim, anything that is not flat
  • Your own hairbrush and whatever you touch up with

Leave at home

  • Logos, slogans and anything branded
  • Tight patterns — stripes and checks that shimmer on camera
  • Brand-new pure white, unless we planned it
  • A haircut from the same week — go two weeks before
  • Heavy makeup, strong contour, anything shiny
  • Clothes you have never worn, bought for this

The night before

  • Sleep. It shows in the eyes more than anywhere else
  • Water all day — skin and lips both
  • Skip the salt and the alcohol; puffiness is real
  • Groom the brows two days out, not the night before
  • Bring a snack; two hours is longer than it sounds
  • Come early enough that you are not arriving stressed

For actors

Your headshot has to say your type in half a second

Casting is not browsing. They are scanning a grid of a hundred faces looking for one. Before your session we will decide which of these you are shooting for — and it is usually two, not one.

Commercial

Warm, open, approachable. Lighter background, a real smile, eyes that are already on your side. This is the one that books the national spot.

Theatrical

Grounded and still. Darker key, less smile, more thought. The one that says you can carry a scene where nothing is funny.

Dramatic / prestige

Harder light, deeper shadow, a jaw with something behind it. For the limited-series audition you keep not getting seen for.

Comedic

Alive and slightly off-balance — the frame caught a beat before the punchline, not after it. Very hard to fake, very obvious when it works.

Character

Leaning all the way into what you actually are, instead of a softened version of it. The most under-shot look in this city.

Professional / procedural

Doctor, lawyer, detective, executive. Structured wardrobe, cooler light, competence you can read from across the room.

The studio

We bring the whole studio to you

Your home, your office, the set you are already on. A proper lighting setup, a real background system and a monitor you can see all travel, so the photographs look like a studio made them — without you spending the morning in traffic to get to one.

  • Travel is already in the price across the San Fernando Valley, Burbank, Hollywood and the Westside.
  • All you need is a clear space of about ten by ten feet. Set-up takes around twenty minutes.
  • Backgrounds in white, grey, charcoal and a warm textured canvas — or your own office, if the look calls for it.
  • Tethered to a 27-inch monitor. You are looking at the frames, not at the back of a camera.
  • Would rather come to us? A private studio in West Hills by appointment, $100 less — or a professional rental studio near you, room fee at cost.

Where we come to you

Individual sessions and whole teams. For companies, everyone is photographed against the same background so the leadership page looks like one company. Travel is included across:

Further than that is usually still a yes — travel is quoted up front.

Questions

The things everybody asks first

Most Los Angeles sessions land between $300 and $800, and the well-known premium studios run past $1,300. Here a 60-minute sitting with two looks and three retouched frames is $495 and the two-hour, four-look session is $795 — and that includes coming to you. In the private West Hills studio each is $100 less.

Every price on this page is the whole price. There is no per-image licensing fee, no charge to view your own gallery, and no upsell waiting at the end of the session.

A sitting is 60 minutes, a full session is two hours, and a brand day runs about four. That is the whole appointment — the wardrobe run-through at the start and choosing your keepers at the end are inside that time, not on top of it.

Your full proof gallery goes up the same day, usually within a few hours of you leaving — so you can send it to your agent or your manager that night. Retouched files land within 48 hours.

If you are against a submission deadline, a 24-hour rush is $95.

Almost everyone says this, including people who make their living on camera. What it usually means is that nobody has ever directed you, and that being photographed in silence is deeply strange.

That is the whole job. You will be told what to do with your chin, your shoulders, your hands and your eyes, and you will see it working on the monitor as it happens. Photographing badly is mostly a directing problem.

Solid mid-tones in colours that suit you, necklines that frame your face, fabrics with a little texture. Skip loud logos, tight patterns, brand-new whites and anything you have never worn before.

Bring three to five options on hangers. There is a wardrobe call before the day where you can send photos and get a straight answer, and we go through the rail together when you arrive.

Yes — professional hair and makeup is $195 and is booked with your slot. It is optional on every session. Plenty of actors book it for the commercial look and deliberately skip it for the theatrical one.

Most sessions happen where you already are — your home, your office or your set. The lights, backgrounds and monitor travel, a clear space of about ten by ten feet is enough, and the travel is already in the price across the Valley, Burbank, Hollywood and the Westside.

If you would rather come to us, there is a private studio in West Hills by appointment for $100 less. Or we can book a professional rental studio near you and pass the room fee on at cost, usually $50 to $100 an hour.

Yes. On-site team headshots start at $145 per person for six or more, and the full lighting kit travels. Everyone is shot on the same background so the finished set reads as one company.

Each person takes about five minutes and we run it on a schedule, so nobody loses half a day. New hires can be added later against the same setup. Everything about team days, including pricing for larger groups, is on the corporate headshots page.

Yes. Your retouched files come with full usage for your own promotion — casting sites, agents, your website, social, press, print. No watermark, no expiry, nothing further to pay.

Book the room, and the hour, and the person in it.

Tell us whether it is a casting profile, a leadership page or a whole team, and you will get a straight answer the same day — including whether a session is even the right thing for what you need.
